Perhaps one of the easiest projects to pull off is to create your own vase. The old turn an empty glass juice bottle into a decorative vase design trick. Gets them every time.
The ease of this project is almost insulting. But let’s be clear, it doesn’t have to be specifically a juice bottle. Whatever glass bottle that strikes your fancy can be turned into a vase. Some people have an abundance old Grey goose bottles lying around. Turn that sucker into a vase. What better way to discreetly immortalize habits of the past!
1 glass bottle
1 can spray paint - aqua
1 bottle of acrylic paint – grey
Blue painters tape
How it was done
1 Spray paint the outside of the glass bottle. You may have to do 2 or 3 coats, depending on the look you are going for. Allow the bottle to thoroughly dry.
2 Once completely dry, tape off a 1in or ½ in line around glass belly. Or neck, or the lower part of the bottle. Heck, tape off a whole bunch of lines around the bottle. Do it to your satisfaction.
3 Paint the desired color in the area that was taped off. Allow to dry and observe whether or not more coats are needed.
4 Glue twine around the neck of the bottle to camouflage the fact that it is really a juice bottle. Of course that is optional and you can display your juicy vase proudly without any false pretenses. It’s entirely up to you on how you customize.
That’s it! Add flowers or decorative sticks to your juicy vase, or add nothing at all. This is a great project because there are so many ways to create a unique piece just by switching one or more elements whether in the materials used or the method used to construct it. For instance, instead of spray paint you can use acrylic paint on the whole bottle. Also instead of coating the outside with paint, coat the inside. Now that you have a good understanding of how ridiculously simple this is, make one right now.
